Tyler and Monica lived in their home for five years when they realized that watering so much in the front yard wasn’t working for them. They contacted Extreme Exteriors to come up with a design plan that would be both beautiful and functional.
One challenge was dividing the portion of the yard they did want to water from the native grass areas. To accomplish this, decomposed granite was installed as a partition, which suits the space well and that Monica really likes. She also likes the addition of the larger river rock that replaced what Monica says was, “little annoying rock around the existing plants.” In the front yard, she’s also very happy with the new landscape plants that create shade and keeps her house from becoming as hot inside. But in speaking with her, she’ll admit that her favorite space that we helped them with was the backyard.
Working around their existing pool, we were able to add pavers leading to a new patio area. “We’re both outdoor people,” she says, “and we’re outside all the time. We wake up early and sit outside with our coffee. Then, in the evenings, we sit on the patio and use our outdoor kitchen to cook an evening meal.”
Monica and Tyler worked with the designers to come up with styles and colors of patio furniture that suited their tastes and preferences. Monica appreciated the help in selecting furniture items that would blend well with pieces she and Tyler already owned. A new sofa and bar stools for the outdoor kitchen and two oversized chaise lounge chairs were purchased from the Midland showroom, and new custom cushions were ordered for all furniture.
Not only has her outdoor space been the place where she and Tyler can sit together and catch up, but the space is also large enough to entertain large groups. “We recently had over the entire Midland Christian Football team!” she said with a laugh.
A few special items, large and small, were incorporated into the Wolfe’s design to really make it their own: a covered wagon, used by Monica’s ancestors and relocated from the family ranch, is proudly displayed; a beautiful cauldron, custom designed into a fire bowl, serving as a focal point of the backyard; and an ocotillo plant, which was carefully transplanted from the family ranch.
When Monica asks if looking back she would do anything differently, she quickly replied, “No, not a thing. We’re so pleased with the outcome and we definitely love it.” Monica is also pleased that she can trust Extreme Exteriors Maintenance Team to provide a weekly yard service, keeping the completed project looking great all year. Monica and Tyler have been happy with the way Extreme Exteriors was able to communicate expectations from start to finish, and they have even been kind enough to recommend our services.
Extreme Exteriors is grateful for the opportunity to transform the Wolfe’s backyard from ordinary to extraordinary and make it a place that they truly want to be every day. Thank you Monica and Tyler!
